Maureen Obianuju Ugwu, Ph.D., is a seasoned environmental management and disaster risk reduction expert with over 14 years of professional experience. She holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Management (Disaster Risk Management) from the University of Port Harcourt and is a certified Estate Surveyor and Valuer. Maureen’s expertise spans environmental and social safeguards, real estate practice, and project management, where she has demonstrated outstanding leadership and analytical skills.
As a Lead Consultant and Environmental & Social Expert, Maureen has been actively involved in high-impact projects with various governmental and private organizations, including the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and the Rivers State Government. She has led the implementation of Resettlement Action Plans (RAP), Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA), and Environmental Audits, demonstrating her ability to manage complex projects and build sustainable community relationships.
With an exceptional ability to integrate disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation into development planning, Maureen has contributed to numerous socio-economic and environmental reports. She is proficient in stakeholder engagement, capacity building, and risk analysis. As a skilled communicator and project coordinator, she consistently achieves positive outcomes while managing competing priorities.
A member of professional bodies such as the Nigeria Institution of Estate Surveyors & Valuers (NIESV) and the Emergency, Crisis & Disaster Risk Management Institute (ECRIM), Maureen remains committed to promoting sustainable environmental practices and resilient community development.
