Maureen Obianuju Ugwu, Ph.D., is a seasoned environmental management and disaster risk reduction expert with over 14 years of professional experience. She holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Management (Disaster Risk Management) from the University of Port Harcourt and is a certified Estate Surveyor and Valuer. Maureen's expertise spans environmental and social safeguards, real estate practice, and project management, where she has demonstrated outstanding leadership and analytical skills.

As a Lead Consultant and Environmental & Social Expert, Maureen has been actively involved in high-impact projects with various governmental and private organizations, including the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and the Rivers State Government. She has led the implementation of Resettlement Action Plans (RAP), Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA), and Environmental Audits, demonstrating her ability to manage complex projects and build sustainable community relationships.

He is currently a Graduate Research Assistant in the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering at Kansas State University, where his research focuses on wildfire prevention, developing fire danger indices, modeling dead fuel moisture content, modeling grass curing, and applying machine learning methods in fire ecology to support safer and more efficient prescribed fire practices in grassland ecosystems. Mayowa is a well-established firefighter and fire advocate who has been at the forefront of fighting and preventing wildfires, especially in vulnerable rural communities. He has distinguished himself as a leader in fire ecology research and public fire safety education. Dr. Cynthia Victor-Oji is an accomplished industrial and petroleum chemist with a strong focus on sustainable and green chemistry innovations. She holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Chemistry from the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria, and is pursuing a second Ph.D. in Chemistry and Forest Biomaterials at North Carolina State University, USA. With over a decade of academic and research experience, Dr. Victor-Oji has made significant contributions to the development of eco-friendly oilfield chemicals derived from renewable biomass. She has served as a lecturer, research leader, and mentor, supervising students across undergraduate and doctoral levels. Her work has yielded several peer-reviewed publications, patents, and funded projects, including support from the Regional Scholarship and Innovation Fund (RSIF). Dr. Victor-Oji is an active member of various professional bodies, including the Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN), Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria (ICCON), American Chemical Society (ACS), and OWSD, and is a strong advocate for women in STEM. Adeyinka Olusanya is a doctoral researcher in Environmental Science at Oklahoma State University, specializing in the intersection of groundwater sustainability, agricultural resilience, and energy development in the U.S. Southern Great Plains. His work addresses critical challenges at the food-energy-water nexus, focusing on how hydraulic fracturing impacts groundwater availability and long-term food and water security. Using advanced geospatial analysis, remote sensing, and metacoupling frameworks, he tracks and models aquifer water storage changes, maps environmental trade-offs, and identifies policy gaps that threaten both ecosystems and agricultural livelihoods.

In Nigeria, Adeyinka Olusanya played an active role in environmental contract projects focused on city development and natural resource management. While serving with the Oyo State Ministry of Environment, he contributed to the monitoring and evaluation of environmental projects, development of environmental management plans, and assessment of waste management practices. He also supported the World Bank–funded NEWMAP initiative by leading land cover change analyses and coordinating community-led agroforestry efforts. Olufemi Akintunde is a Senior Musculoskeletal physiotherapist of about 10years presently working in the NHS England, I have seen firsthand how physiotherapy through interventions like exercises, manipulation, patient education help in the treatment of injury, disease, disorders and optimisation of physical performances. I hold a bachelor’s degree in physiotherapy from Obafemi Awolowo University and currently doing my Doctor of Physical Therapy in Arcadia University in the USA. I believe there are many ways that physiotherapists can participate in global health work beyond direct patient care, aside helping patients recover from injury, reduce pain, stiffness and increase mobility, physiotherapy also plays a big role in the preventive aspect of health care and maintenance of quality of functionalities in people of all ages. This is what forms the core ethics of my current practise, and I derive immense satisfaction from seeing the joys of fulfilled patients. I am licenced to practice in Nigeria, United Kingdom and currently on my way to acquire the license to practise in the state of New York, USA. I am a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy in UK, a society with track records of significant contributions to the advancement of physiotherapy profession.

Dr. Olawale Makanjuola is a leading researcher dedicated to advancing sustainable water purification through innovative membrane technologies. Through U.S.-funded projects under the United States Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (USDA-NIFA) and the Soil Health Institute’s U.S. Regenerative Cotton Fund, he has contributed to national efforts promoting climate-smart agriculture, soil carbon sequestration, and regenerative farming systems that enhance environmental resilience. Samuel earned his master’s degree in plant and Soil Sciences from the University of Delaware, where his USDA-supported research focused on strategies to enhance soil fertility and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. His work provided critical insights into foundational soil processes and their implications for sustainable agriculture policy and land restoration. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Soil Science and Land Management from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) in Nigeria, where he developed a strong foundation in agronomy, soil classification, and resource management. In his role at KerTec LLC, Samuel conducts comprehensive soil assessments and designs conservation strategies for large-scale renewable energy projects, including solar developments. He also serves as a community scientist and advisor for the American Geophysical Union’s Thriving Earth Exchange Project in Willington-McCormick, South Carolina by advising on soil contamination, sustainable land use, and community resilience planning. Samuel’s leadership and scientific contributions have been recognized through awards such as the Bayer Encompass Fellowship, the SWCS Emerging Leaders Award, and the [Re]Generation Fellowship. He actively advocates for soil conservation and climate resilience through his work with the Coalition of Action 4 Soil Health (CA4SH) and Change the Chamber*Lobby for Climate.

My research focuses on Age related degenerative diseases of the brain especially Alzheimer's disease and related dementia (ADRD). I have also conducted research in bacterial infections and prion diseases, a debilitating and fatal neurodegenerative disease that affects people between 6^th-7^th decade of life. During my PhD, l used molecular and cell biology techniques to investigate the combinational effects of Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) and post-translationally modified amyloid beta species in the progression and pathophysiology of AD, a debilitating neurodegenerative disease. I also provided insights on the combined effects of diet and modified amyloid beta peptides in the pathophysiology of this most common cause of dementia. Furthermore, I assessed the neuroprotective effects of astaxanthin, a flavonoid compound in ameliorating these effects. I am interested in translating life science skills into solving real life problems relating to microbial infections, aging, metabolic dysfunctions and neurodegenerative diseases. Aside these, l advocates for inclusive science and lifestyle changes. My educational background includes an MSc. in Medical Microbiology from Hallym University, South Korea and a PhD. in Human Medicine from Medical University of Graz, Austria. I also hold a BSc. in Microbiology from Ekiti State University, Nigeria. As a Microbiologist and neuroscientist with over 12 years of experience in basic and translational research, I am uniquely trained in the use of cutting-edge molecular techniques. I am proficient in in vitro and in vivo based bio-assays. Currently, l am a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Neurology Department, University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston where l investigates the contributions of microbial infections and inflammation in the progression of Alzheimer's Disease.

He holds a Master of Science in Bioinformatics from Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), where he conducted cutting-edge research in spatial transcriptomics and therapeutic drug discovery. He also earned a Master’s in Computer Science from the University of Ibadan and a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Engineering from Ladoke Akintola University in Nigeria. His research interests include machine learning for medicine, spatial variable gene identification, deep generative models, Bayesian modeling, causal inference, and computational approaches to understanding disease progression. At IUPUI, he worked as a Graduate Research Assistant under the supervision of Professors Jingwen Yan and Juexin Wang, contributing to the development of EMB models for Alzheimer’s disease and methods for identifying spatially variable genes using the BSP algorithm.
