Chioma V. Nwachukwu

Experience & Activities

Dr. Nwachukwu earned her medical degree from the University of Nigeria. As a top graduate, she completed an internship at the university’s teaching hospital. She worked as a clinician and later joined the faculty of her alma mater as a lecturer. There, she demonstrated excellence in academics and leadership and conducted impactful research, publishing in high-impact journals.

Her pursuit of excellence led her to the University of Manitoba, where she earned a Master’s in Physiology and Pathophysiology with a 4.5/4.5 GPA and nine prestigious awards. While in Canada, she showcased leadership as an independent reviewer/judge for the University of Manitoba Medical Student Research Symposia.

Dr. Nwachukwu is ECFMG certified and currently in the Internal Medicine Program at Montefiore Hospital in New York. Her research project earned her an Honorable Mention and Prize Award at Montefiore’s Department of Medicine Symposium. As an advocate for comprehensive patient-centered care focused on maintaining quality of life, she has published influential work on chronic life-altering diseases such as spinal cord injury, diabetes, HIV, cancer, heart and lung diseases, among others. She has been featured in the media discussing the importance of prioritizing quality of life in medicine. She continues to engage with colleagues at national and international conferences. Her scholarly contributions, including being a journal peer reviewer and authoring widely cited publications, have advanced global discourse in medicine and science. Dr. Nwachukwu remains committed to improving healthcare systems worldwide through clinical innovation, research, and collaboration with global experts.
