Egondu C. Umeobi
Experience & Activities
Egondu Umeobi is an environmental soil scientist whose work focuses on improving soil health, remediating contaminated landscapes, and promoting sustainable agricultural systems. She holds a First Class Honors B.Sc. and an M.Sc. in Soil Science from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, with a focus on environmental impact assessment, and she is currently a Ph.D. Candidate at The Ohio State University. Her research investigates best management practices for reducing heavy metal bioavailability in post-mining soils, using compost amendments, chemical speciation analysis, and multivariate modeling to study soil–plant interactions. Egondu Umeobi has presented her findings at international scientific conferences, published in peer-reviewed journals, and served as a reviewer for leading environmental publications. In addition to her research, she contributes to undergraduate teaching and mentorship and participates in science outreach initiatives. She is deeply committed to applying science to address real-world environmental challenges and to working collaboratively with communities affected by land degradation and ecological stress.
