Experience & Activities
Her research background includes significant work at the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research, where her diagnostic testing for HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C enabled accurate diagnosis and treatment for patients. She co-authored and presented key scientific work on syndemic approaches to HIV and co-infections among underserved populations, directly advancing the understanding of HIV epidemiology and improving care for at-risk groups.
Beyond the laboratory, Lateefat has demonstrated leadership in community health through the Give to Live Foundation. She founded this organization to expand access to preventive healthcare and health education in underserved communities. Her projects have reached hundreds of families with essential health resources, vaccine literacy campaigns, and mobile health clinics.
She has applied her expertise in data analysis, program evaluation, and policy advocacy to drive measurable improvements at the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Illinois Public Health Association.
