Omotayo Emmanuel Omoyemi

Omotayo Omoyemi is a researcher, educator, and technologist with over a decade of experience spanning software engineering, artificial intelligence, and human-computer interaction. He holds an MSc in Information Technology from the University of Derby, UK, with a specialization in machine learning, natural language processing, and AI for accessibility.
Omotayo’s research focuses on the ethical and inclusive use of AI, particularly in healthcare and education. His most notable contributions include the development of AI-based tools for augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), including a Makaton sign language translator using computer vision and a real-time apraxia of speech detection tool integrating multimodal inputs. These innovations have earned him recognition in leading outlets such as The Guardian Nigeria and Punch Newspaper.
He is an active contributor to the academic community, having presented at ACM’s ICSIE 2024 and published multiple papers on AI safety, interpretability, and inclusive technologies. Omotayo is a member of IEEE, the British Computer Society (MBCS), and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA). He currently teaches computer science at Derby Cathedral School while pursuing independent research and collaborative projects.
Omotayo is passionate about leveraging AI to solve real-world problems, especially those affecting underrepresented and vulnerable populations. He is eager to connect, collaborate, and contribute to impactful research communities aligned with inclusive innovation.
